Michael Goryelov is an Associate in the Environmental Practice Group, Michael has experience with a wide array of environmental and land use issues having assisted businesses with state and federal permitting, air and water permits, wetlands and solid waste approvals; as well as compliance regarding site development/redevelopment, and ISRA requirements. He also has experience with New Jersey’s renewable energy programs, subsidies, and advising on related projects, including offshore wind, solar/community solar, fuel cell, and waste recycling/biofuel projects, and grid interconnection.

Michael received his JD from William & Mary Law School and his B.A. from The College of New Jersey.

The Inland Flood Protection Rule

On July 17, 2023, the NJDEP adopted changes to its Stormwater Management (SWM) rules and Flood Hazard Area Control Act (FHACA) rules, labelled the Inland Flood Protection Rule. These changes are part of a broader initiative of the state to address climate impacts, NJ Protecting Against Climate Threats (NJ PACT), including adjusting flooding standards to confront recent extreme rainfall events and anticipated future rainfall up until 2100.
