Shawn Phillips is a firm partner and focuses his practice on healthcare law. He has over 30 years of legal experience in the healthcare space as both a law firm partner and general counsel for a Pennsylvania healthcare system that operated an ambulatory surgery center and an ambulatory care facility and several physician practices in New Jersey. He has extensive experience in counseling healthcare providers on healthcare regulatory matters, including in connection with the structuring of financial relationships between providers and in the defense of governmental and third-party payor investigations and adverse actions, as well as in negotiating and drafting transaction documents. As general counsel, he handled the day-to-day legal functions of a multi-specialty hospital with over 100 physicians and 1400 employees that included two hospitals, two ambulatory surgery centers and 18 clinics/offices. In addition to employment law issues, he handled negotiation and drafting of agreements for mergers and acquisitions, litigation, risk management, employment contracts, leases, fraud and abuse prevention and HIPAA compliance. He also has a wealth of experience handling medical malpractice litigation matters on behalf of healthcare providers. He is admitted in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
