Purpose of Role:

The Family Law Department is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join us as a Family Law Assistant. As a crucial member of our legal support team, you’ll collaborate closely with colleagues and lead attorneys, providing essential support to navigate the dynamic and demanding nature of family law cases.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive support to the legal team, including attorneys, by efficiently managing calendars, deadlines, and appointments.
  • Handle scanning and emailing of documents to courts and clients, maintaining accurate records.
  • Facilitate meetings and appointments, coordinating schedules and logistics.
  • Draft legal documents under attorney supervision and conduct investigative research to support case preparation.
  • Interact directly with clients, offering support throughout the legal process, including assisting in e-filing of documents with the courts.
  • Coordinate court appearances and hearings.
  • Assist with client billing, reports, and collections.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in family law.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Kofax.
  • Excellent word processing and computer skills, coupled with strong organizational and time-management abilities, and exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with principles of NJ family law, statutes, codes, court processes, and rules of court.
  • Ability to work effectively with people experiencing personal crises or when relations are strained, demonstrating skill in prioritizing and managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and following up on assignments.
  • Must have digital dictation skills and be willing to work overtime if requested.
